Activision Blizzard have released their financial results for the first quarter of 2010, which include a sales forecast for 2010 console sales. The publisher is predicting the PlayStation 3 will outsell the Xbox 360 in the West this year - 9 millions units for PS3 compared to 8 million for 360. Apparently Activision believes Sony will continue its impressive growth since the launch of PS3 Slim late last year.
Activision also foresees the Wii continuing to dominate sales, which it expects will outsell both PS3 and 360 combined at 18 million units - so much for declining Wii sales. By the end of 2010 the company predicts total console install bases will reach 63 million units for the Wii, 40 million for 360, and 32 million for PS3.
Not surprisingly, Activision Blizzard are confident the PC gaming space will grow in 2010. Surely this is thanks to World of Warcraft's continued dominance and the launch of Starcraft II in July.
